Dear Praying Friends,

I returned a few days ago from time in Cardenas for teaching and preaching. It was a blessing to have 4 new visitors in services during that time, and to hear of other visitors who had been in attendance on other occasions when I was not present. The brethren are faithful to witness to family, friends and neighbors, and invite them to services. Of course there is still discouragement due to the exodus that took place a few months ago. But they press ahead faithfully. I was able to spend many hours in teaching and encouragement with Eduardo who stands to teach when I am not present with them.

Public safety is Mexico is at an all-time low. I check the headlines each day, and it is unusual for a day to go by without more sad news of executions, beheadings, kidnappings, or open shooting in the streets between drug cartels, or between the cartels and police or the military. I believe the total known dead in this category for this year is now nearing 4000. With the impunity and success (?) of drug related killings, common criminals are now emboldened. The numbers of assaults and robberies is greatly increasing, even killings in common robberies. In towns around the country, citizens fear going out on the streets at night. Please pray for the brethren who live in this environment, and for the missionaries who "stick out" because they are "gringos".

Please remember to pray for Janet's health. She is slowing improving from the whiplash and injury to her neck and spine, but still has daily pain and struggles. When she finally got to see the neurosurgeon, he felt that she should just wait a while longer and see how she recovers, rather than attempting a surgical intervention.

Please pray for us,

Danny G. Roten
